| What is on the dark side of the Moon? | | I must admit I didn't really know the answer of this question before I read an article about it. The answer is simple: There is no Dark Side of the moon!
Actually - every part of the moon is illuminated at sometime by the sun. This misconception has come about because there is a side of the moon which is never visible to the earth. This is due to tidal locking; this is due to the fact that earth's gravitational pull on the moon is so immense that it can only show one face to us. Wikipedia puts it rather smartly thus: "Tidal locking occurs when the gravitational gradient makes one side of an astronomical body always fave another; for example, one side of the Earth's Moon always faces the Earth. A tidally locked body takes just as long to rotate around its own axis as it does to revolve around its partner. This synchronous rotation causes one hemisphere constantly to face the partner body."

| Dark Side Of The Moon | | new moon approaches.. the plan is to take advantage of its energies.. clear, cleanse, readjust, reposition, and with any luck pick my head up from where its been knocked senseless, duct tape the seams back together, set it steady back where it belongs, and move forward. whatdya do when youve reached that point of break? do you stay facedown tasting the dirt..? or summon strength from seemingly no where.. raise yer head up.. and roar from the core to stand firm again? | |
| | Are they building something on the dark side of the moon? | | Years ago I heard that governements are building on The Dark Side Of The moon so that certain people can inhabit it if the earth becomes uninhabitable, this would inlcude of course politicians and probably scientists. I expect wealthy people will also get to go and certain people with particular skills. They've kept it very secret but I've been thinking about global warming a lot lately and it's brought The Dark Side Of The moon back to my mind. What do you think, if anything, is happening there?."

| Dark Side of the Moon-WOZ | | Has anyone ever set up The Dark Side of the Moon album to the Wizard of Oz???I tried this awhile ago and it's pretty sweet. I would say that it helps to have a little something to make it more interesting, but it's really weird how some of the timings of the movie and the album hit so perfectly. So I wonder, did Pink Floyd intend this or is it magic??? ."

Fortunately, some goods survived the wreck: enough food and water (and booze) to last until you're rescued; a comfy hammock in which to relax; a CD player (or equivalent) and five albums of your choosing...My selection:1. Black Holes and Revelations - Muse,
2. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin,
3. Live at Leeds - The Who,
4. OK Computer - Radiohead,
5. The Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd,Your choices? | |
| | Alan Parsons Project | | A couple of nights ago I had a talk radio station on and they had Alan Parsons as a guest. AP used to be with the group Pink Floyd. How many of you remember Dark Side of the Moon? I am dating myself here and unless you are over 45 you probably either have never heard it or only heard it as an oldie. So ask your parents if they are in the age bracket of 49 to 65 if the have the tape(yea thats right.....tape as in cassette). Alan Parsons also started a band Alan Parsons Project and ever since he has been on the radio I keep playing the song in myy mind, Eye In The Sky and Turn of A Friendly Card. Now I know this is gonna make me sound old too. BUT....THOSE WERE THE DAY. NOW THAT WAS MUSIC> | |
