What Others are Saying About Hermann:| Has anyone read Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse? | | Siddhartha a book by hermann hesse, is a book that many people can relate to. The book refers to a young boy named Siddhartha who grows into a very wise and knowledgeable man. Through the story, the little boy succeeds in his learnings of life tremendously. He looks for someone who can teach him how to understand life. He finds many wise teachers, but none of which can fulfill his thirst for knowledge. Through his travels, he becomes a monk, a businessman, a ferryman, and a father. He arrives to many conclusions, such as that life must be experienced first hand and wisdom cannot be spoken but must be derived from experience. When he has realized, this he understands that everything is equally important and only people can teach themselves about life. This book is a great book to relate readers' personal lives. | | | Any book you loved when you were a teen? | | It seems to me that all of us can name stories we loved when we were little. And them for those that like to read, there are many books for adults that each one of us cherishes and rereads.
But when we reached our teen, it was not so easy to find a book. Some were too childish (and I read them but didn´t comment with my friends[em]lol[/em]), other´s were really books for adults and I took a lot of thinking to read them then.
I read the "Anne of Green Gables" books when I was starting my teens and loved them. But I prefered the first one: I did not like Anne to turn into a normal lady.
I reread several times the books the Laura Ingalls wrote. I confess that I still read them.
My first "adult" book was Demian by Hermann Hesse. After that I also read Sydharta. And about 16, I read some of the books that John Steinbeck wrote and fell in love with him.
What were your favorite books from, let´s say, 13 to 18? Why? Answering this post would also help a mylotter friend who has a teenages girl.
Take care![em]happy[/em][em]wink[/em]

| | If you eat you'll be affected by these laws! | | I hear a lot about government intrusion and I am not an advocate of the government taking so much control over our lives. But this law that is going through is horrifying! It would change all that we eat in our world and is dangerous to anyone wanting good clean food for themselves and their family. This was sent to me from a friend and I have been studying this for some time with growing apprehention. I urge everyone to look at this and then contact your political representatives on this subject!

Natural News
July 21, 2009Your right to eat healthy food and use supplements of your choice is rapidly vanishing, but every effort has been made to keep you in the dark about the coming nutricide. Yet, according to the projections of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), a minimum of 3 billion people will die from the Codex mandated vitamin and mineral guideline alone. As...

How should be done with this man? What can we do to make sure this does not happen again? Should this change our relationship with Russia, not to mention all the rest of the nations in NATO?

| | What are the top five books... | | What are the top five books you feel everyone should read and why?My top five are:1: Siddhartha by Hermann Hesse – A powerful story about the importance of life experiences as they relate to approaching an understanding of reality and attaining enlightenment. 2: 1984 by George Orwell – 1984 still holds chief significance nearly 60 years after it was written in 1949. It is widely acclaimed for its haunting vision of an all-knowing government which uses pervasive, 24/7 surveillance tactics to manipulate all citizens of the populace. 3: The Wisdom of the Desert by Thomas Merton – A collection of thoughts, meditations and reflections that give insight into what life is like to live simply and purely, dedicated to a greater power than ourselves. 4: Walden by Henry David Thoreau – Thoreau spent two years, two months and two days writing this book in a secluded cabin near the banks of Walden Pond in Concord, Massachusetts. This is a story about being truly free from the pressures of society. The book can speak for itself: “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to... | |
